About School of Continuing Education

The higher adult education of Anhui University was founded in the fifties of the 20^th century. It was closed down for Institutional Revolution and was resumed in 1981. It started correspondence education in 1983 and took the lead among local academies in establishing Adult Education College in 1988. In 2002, its name was changed to School of Continuing Education. In more than 20 years, under the thought of “base upon Anhui , serve Anhui , administer strictly, and insure quality”, the Adult Education of Anhui University has relied on common higher educaton and fully exerted the integral advantages of comprehensive university. The Department has offered multi-level programs such as junior college education for high school graduates, bachelor’s degree education for high school graduates, and bachelor’s degree-completion for junior college graduates and has set up multi-form patterns including correspondence, evening college, full-time, self-study, post training. At present, there are more than 8000 students on record . Since resuming, the higher adult education has launched 98 specialties for junior college education and 19 specialties for bachelor’s degree education, fostered near 80000 professional technical personnel for the country.

For more than 20 years, the adult education of Anhui University has kept deepening reform, administering strictly. Paying attention to quality, it has obtained remarkable achievements and the recognition of society. In the first National Evaluation of correspondence and evening college of adult higher education in 1996, Anhui University was both graded as “Excellent”, In October, 1997, Anhui University was granted by the former China State Educational Commission the title “National Distinguished University in Adult Higher Education”. Then in 1996 and again in 2001, it won from the former Commission and Ministry of Education the title “ Distinguished Working Unit in Self-study University Examinations”.

In order to actively respond to the summon “quicken progress , enrich people and strengthen province”, we should always stick to “base upon Anhui”. We will exert our advantage and establish our characteristics to meet  the challenge of new century with more stable step and new gesture. We will make greater contribution in the construction of high level teaching and Research University and in implementing the stratagem of “prospering Anhui by science and education”.
