On the afternoon of December 27, 2006, Mr. Chen Xiaodong, Chinese newly-appointed Ambassador to Iraq, was invited to give a lecture on The Situation of Middle East Area on new campus at Anhui University. The lecture was hosted by Mr. YeHua, Deputy CPC Secretary of Anhui University. And nearly 500 teachers and undergraduates from different schools attended the lecture.

Mr.Chen Xiaodong analyzed the originations of problems in Middle East Area according to his long-time diplomatic experience and researches in this area, and demonstrated 3 heated points including Iraq problems, the Situation of Middle East and Nuclear Weapon in Iran.

Mr. Chen Xiaodong said that as a diplomat he felt so proud that China is playing a more important role in the world with the development of comprehensive strength. He encouraged more graduates at Anhui University to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, since Anhui University has been enjoying a high reputation in this department by sending there nearly 50 excellent graduates in recent years.

Mr. Chen Xiaodong was born in Lujiang County of Anhui Province. He graduated from Beijing University of International Studies and used to be diplomat in Jordan and Egypt.
