On the afternoon of Jan. 14,2007, the New Year’s first lecture of “Anhui Humanistic Forum” was presented at the academic lecture hall of Hefei Municipal Library. The forum is sponsored by Anhui Provincial Association of Social Sciences, Hefei Municipal Association of Social Sciences, Xin’an Evening Newspaper and co-sponsored by Hefei Municipal Library. The lecturer is Prof. Li Xia, doctoral student’s supervisor and director of the Department of Philosophy, Anhui University. The topic of her lecture is “Taoist Doctrine of Managing, of Being with Others and of Keeping Health”. The participants who attended this lecture include Mr. Zhang Chun-sheng, deputy-general-director of Anhui Provincial NPC, Mr. Huang Chuan-xin, vice-general-director of the Propaganda Department of Anhui Provincial CPC Committee, Mr. Cheng Bi-ding, general-secretary of CPC Committee of Anhui Provincial Association of Social Sciences and other leadership from Anhui Province and Hefei City.

Sources say that the forum aims to “push social sciences to be dear to the mass”, to publicize humanistic knowledge and spirit, to meet the mass’ requirement for social sciences, to promote the mass’ quality in science and culture, to contribute to the building of harmonious society and the peaceful development of Anhui. Since last year when the forum was held, 7 lectures have been given and a total of nearly 4,000 audiences attended it. The forum is to be held regularly on afternoons of each month’s second Sunday. Its topic of the first half-year is: To Publicize Harmonious Anhui Culture.
