The 2nd Returned Overseas Chinese and Family Dependent of Returned Overseas Chinese Convention was held in the 2nd meeting hall of Yifu Library on the afternoon of March 23. 2007. Qiu Jianghui, Chairman of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui province, Ye Hua, vice-secretary of the Party Committee of Anhui University attended the meeting to express the congratulation. Qiu Huizhu, vice-secretary of Liaison Division of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui, Bi Qin, vice-director, Xu Jirong, secretary of Organization Department of the Party Committee of Anhui University, Zhou Qin, secretary of the United Front Work Department, Zhou Fei, secretary of Propaganda Department, Xu Ming, director of the Foreign Affairs Office and the Overseas Chinese Office of Anhui University. Sun Yong, deputy Dean of School of International Education and almost 80 returned overseas Chinese and family dependent attended the meeting.

On behalf of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui, Qiu Jianghui sent a warm greeting to the returned oversea Chinese and their family dependent and thanks for the care and support from Anhui University. She said, “Under the leadership of the university Party Committee，Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui university persists in the principle of serving overseas Chinese wholeheartedly, do mass work earnestly, discuss government and political affairs positively, maintain the benefit of the overseas Chinese and the function of the association of Overseas Chinese, unite returned overseas Chinese, their dependents and overseas Chinese widely who would make a contribution to the construction and development of the university.Meanwhile, Returned Overseas Chinese Federation should strengthen construction in ideology, organization, style and system in order to boost up affinity, cohesion and efficacy of the federation.

On behalf of the Party Committee of Anhui University, Ye Hua congratulated on the convening of the convention, expressed his appreciation of the work of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui University. He said, “ The federation of the university which is 　 the bridge and tie connecting returned overseas Chinese ,their dependents and overseas Chinese, should persist in the sole purpose of serving overseas Chinese wholeheartedly, mobilize their enthusiasm, cohere their heart, marshal their wisdom, exert their strength in order to build our university an advanced comprehensive research university.” He denoted, “The Party Committee of Anhui University would keep on supporting the work of the federation and create environments and conditions beneficial to the development of the federation.”

Wu Jing, associate professor of History Department, was elected as chairman of Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Anhui University by the attendees. Both Zhou Xuxia, secretary of The United Front Work Department, and Jiang Yiwen, associate professor of College English Department were elected as vice chairman.
